2008 | MAUREEN J. | YUMA AZ | 11/02/09 | 1.00 | THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SHOCK SNAPPED AS I DROVE TO WORK AND THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER IT!! DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA!! | 2008 | John C. | OROVILLE CA | 10/18/09 | 3.00 | Too much bed bounce. | 2008 | Kenneth M. | LOS OJOS NM | 10/03/09 | 3.00 | 1. The four wheel drive unit binds and bangs shaking the entire truck when shifting from four wheel high to two wheel drive. Service Rep says I need to have the truck stopped and in neutral before shifting from four wheel to two wheel drive. I have driven Fords, Dogdes and Internationals and have never had to take extra steps when shifting. The owner's manual says I can shift from four wheel to two wheel drive on the fly. | 2008 | Bill T. | EAST HELENA MT | 09/22/09 | 3.00 | Transmission "bumps" when stopping and starting off. tTo dealer twice with no results. Im tired of shaking around inside of my truck!!!! Ive had this trouble on two{2} 2008 Toyota Truck. The first one was a 2008 Double Cab Tacoma. I had this trouble up until the 15,000 miles and I then contacted the Regional Service Representativetive for SOUTHEAST Toyota. The Representative and the dealership owner worked a deal to get me into other truck{2008 Toyota Tundra XSP} before I lemon lawed the one I had. I now have the same trouble with this truck. | 2008 | John B. | SINGER LA | 02/13/09 | 3.00 | Roaring in rear end og vehicle, said to be bearings will find out 02/18/09. | 2008 | Doug P. | OAKDALE CT | 01/21/09 | 4.00 | After backing up in 4 wheel drive, once driving forward has resumed and in 2 wheel drive, sometimes the Vehicle Stability Control OFF and Limited Slip Differential lights go on and the truck must be turned off (like the windows program) to reboot the system. I've only owned the truck 3 weeks and have experienced this 3 times in less than 600 miles
Several times in the last three months the radio/cd player has been inoperable or intermittently operating. Ex: I turned on the A/C and the cd turned on; hit a bump on a side road and the radio shut off; after driving 1/2 mile the volume, presets, all controls including on and off were inoperable. Truck has less than 5000 miles on it in 8 months of ownership. | 2008 | Jamie M. | DELTONA FL | 12/05/08 | 3.00 | Vibration in the front that nobody can seem to fix. Also, supposedly the seat belt dinger cannot be deprogrammed. Very annoying since I usually have stuff (books) sitting on the passenger seat which sets off the dinger. | 2008 | John E. | COLLIERVILLE TN | 12/03/08 | 3.00 | Paint is very fragile. Easily scratches. Dashboard squeaks, rattles, and pops horribly. Very annoying. | 2008 | GS L. | ALABASTER AL | 11/18/08 | 4.00 | There is a squeek while riding on the rural paved roads and smooth roads with ripples | 2008 | John H. | LORETTO MN | 10/28/08 | 4.00 | Truck is 1 year old now with 16K miles and everything is still working fine and the paint is holding up. The battery did give out at the 1 year interval but replaced under warranty. Otherwise no mechanical issues. The body and trim is holding up well with minimal to no rattling and squeaks. I have the TRD supercharger on my truck and it is alot of fun but lately it seems as though it is not making the same power as it was when new. I have brought it in to the dealership and had it checked out several times and seems it is working fine however I do notice some power loss with 16K miles on her now. | 2008 | Tracey B. | STANLEY NY | 10/19/08 | 3.00 | Great Truck---Horrible paint!!!!!! Toyota...WTF? Scratches chipping dulling. Thank God I got the rust inhibitor installed because I'm going to need it!
I'm also on the second factory radio. Just shuts itself off whenever if it even shuts off at all. | 2008 | Craig B. | WATERBORO ME | 09/12/08 | 5.00 | Can't read the time display during the day as it dims in daylight and gets brighter when the lights are on. If you travel and drive with your lights on during the day, the time is very difficult to see as it is on the dashboard. | 2008 | Joe D. | LA PUENTE CA | 08/16/08 | 3.00 | front brake rotors, developed heat spots @12000 miles | 2008 | Eric Z. | COLUMBUS OH | 07/25/08 | 4.00 | Radio has a LOT of static | 2008 | Bud C. | EL DORADO HILLS CA | 07/24/08 | 0.00 | o | 2008 | Zach B. | POMPANO BEACH FL | 07/18/08 | 5.00 | So far so good. The gas mileage is terrible but, it is to be expected for so much towing power.
My radio however is the base radio and it turns on and shuts off whenever it wants to. I will address this issue when I visit the dealer. | 2008 | Joe M. | HOPEWELL JUNCTION NY | 07/12/08 | 5.00 | Only 50mi so far | 2008 | David S. | HURST TX | 05/05/08 | 1.00 | ride sucks | 2008 | Bob P. | LOGANVILLE GA | 05/05/08 | 0.00 | looking to buy | 2008 | Kevin A. | UPLAND CA | 04/17/08 | 3.00 | Horrible bed bounce!!! | 2008 | Steve K. | ORLANDO FL | 04/12/08 | 4.00 | transmission slips before shifting into gear | 2008 | Terry B. | CHANDLER AZ | 03/27/08 | 1.00 | I have posted in this area on another occassion. regarding a loud and very obvious bang when stopping and starting my 2008 Tundra 4x4. Also had an incident where I had to slow down quickly and the entire drivetrain felt like it was going to come out from under the truck along with a loud grinding noise. Took it to the dealer and of course they said they could not duplicate the problem. This is a response when the dealer, EARNHARDT TOYOTA IN ARIZONA, doesn't want to admit there is a problem. I don't understand this dumbass response when the dealer doesn't pay for warranty work and in fact in most cases usually screws the manufacturer by claiming work and parts replacement that is never done.
I had at least five friends, one who is a mechanic drive my truck and everyone of them duplicated the bangs.
There has been two other ocassions where I had to stop quickly and each time the brakes totally locked up and the truck skidded to a stop. Obviously with the high tech braking system this P.O.S. truck has the brakes should never have locked up. Each of these times the grinding and scrapping noise under the truck was very scary.
I tried to trade thie P.O.S. in on another brand of truck but no dealer wants this truck.
I will guarentee that when the brakes lock up again or another problem arises with this truck and I hit another vehicle there will be an entire staff of Attornies on Toyota and EARNHARDT TOYOTA'S door step asking why they couldn't duplicate the problem.
This truck is dangerous and Toyota and EARNHARDT TOYOTA IN ARIZONA are both guilty of not addressing the problem when they know damn well there is a problem.
I would highly suggest to any potential buyer of the Toyota Tundra that they do not purchase this truck. They will only be disappointed.
This is pretty typical of today's times when nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions. | 2008 | Paul S. | BOGART GA | 03/07/08 | 5.00 | 20,000+ miles in less than a year love the truck, bed hop pronounced on concrete roadways for first 5K miles, as shocks and suspension loosened up No re-occurrence. Mileage always 17 mpg + on 5.7 I- Force V-8 | 2008 | Donn Y. | INGLESIDE IL | 02/11/08 | n/a | gas gauge is not accurate, miles to empty is also not correct |
