2002 Jim G. BAKERSFIELD

02/05/09 1.00 brake system not properly engineered for vehicle. I am disappointed in Toyota's denials, delays, and overall poor handling of the situation. I was a devoted Toyota customer, but this will be my last. Quality and customer service are terrible. Do yourself a favor, and buy a Honda.

08/26/08 2.00 Serious undercarriage rusting, only 44,000 miles on truck. Also emergency brake seizes on a regular basis. Update: October 1,2009. Now at 49,300 miles and the vehicle deterioration continues. New safety issues include, a leaking gastank, chrome bumpers front and rear are useless, O2 sensor failure (3rd time), serious corrosion of rear differential, and brake line connectors. I did contact Toyota and was told that they are finally examining the rusty Tundras complaints and will determine how to proceed. I urge you to contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 and voice your concern over the rust problem. You will be contacted and given a case number, this is the only way you will be contacted in the event that Toyota decides to take responsibility for this problem. Apparently, they are under no obligation to advise dealerships about their investigation because the trucks are no longer covered under warranty, so even your service manager is not aware of this process. When I called my dealership last week to ask about any Tundra recall they knew of nothing pending.

2002 Alex A. ANGEL FIRE

05/30/08 3.00 My transmission had a total failure at 84,900 miles. Fortunately, I had the Toyota Care extended warranty (100,000) which covered the installation of a Toyota reconditioned transmission 100%.
2002 Brenda F.
05/09/08 4.00 Front Brake Rotors overheat causing severe vibration. I have had the rotors machined as many times as allowed and replace three times. After having them turned the braking stays smooth for approx 1000 to 1500 miles then the vibration returns and becomes progressivly worse. At time it is so bad that I am not sure the truck is going to come to a stop. I have come close to rear ending other cars when it is at its worst. I have spoken to my dealer many time regarding this issue and they know very well that there is a problem. The dealer replaced the rotors the first two times. (after alot of arguing with them) . I requested to speak to the Toyota corporate service manager. but that never happened and was told by my service writer that It was a waste of my time because they would not do anything about it. I love my truck but feel Extremely let down by Toyota for not taking care of this problem. I am now faced with replacing my rotors again and am reluctant to use the Toyota brand again. i am concidering purchasing some aftermarlet high performance slotted rotors in hopes this will help the rotors stay cooler, but I am not sure this a viable solution as I do not know what causes this problem.

2002 Timothy M. NORTH PORT
FL
11/07/06 5.00 I have owned this truck for 5 years. I drive it 80+ miles 6 days a week and pull a boat 15 miles on Sunday. There have been no problems at all,I have replaced 1 timing belt, plugs and brackes twice. There are currently 167.000 miles on this truck and it runs as well as it did the day I bought it.
2002 Clark M. MARIETTA
GA
08/14/06 4.00 Really like the Tundra except for the front brakes.
2002 Roger G.
06/11/06 5.00 I love my truck. No problems.
2002 Paul  E. ANAHEIM
CA
04/13/06 5.00 My Tundra now has 97,000 troublefree miles, and I can tell everyone that all these warped rotors and brake problems are caused by people's driving habits. I have PROOF. My buddy, who has the same identical Tundra, and, incidentally, has problems with HIS rotors, recently borrowed my truck, and guess what? when he returned it to me, MY rotors were warped. I never in 90,000 miles had this problem until HE drove it.
2002 Stanley S. BURTON
WV
07/22/05 4.00 no problems 32000 miles ,22 mpg on the highway at 65mph.
