Problems:
Mileage is good, but, not as good as advertised.
Dashboard feature locations are hidden behind steering wheel and/or require taking eyes off road for to long.
Dealership service (and we have tried several) have been less than honest.

CA | 08/19/08 | 0.00 | Unitl I turned 77,000 miles I would rate this car as excellent. My only complaint has been about the heavy front end design which wears tires at 12,000 - 16,000 mile. Switched to Good Year tires and am getting 30,000 plus buying 60,000 rated tires.
Turned 79,000 miles last week and took car in for oil change, 2 year service and asked problem with steering column be checked, dealer told me they could not find one, then I looked it up on the web, I called the dealer rep that has helped me over the years, I do regular service and he is researching the matter. Thus my inquiry today. This will determine why this dealer has not ever sent warranty recalls to my home, each time I have found out by chance. Makes me not want to buy another Toyota which saddens me because I really love the concept of the Prius and am thinking of upgrading to Camry hybrid because of the seats, husband has bad back and the Prius is not comfortable to him, give his back pain | 2001 | Chad M. | PROVO
UT | 08/18/08 | 3.00 | It can feel like a skateboard on wheels while driving down the freeway on a windy day, but it can accelerate up hill with the best of them. Any error messages on the screen usually won't tell you what is up so you are forced to go into Toyota for a diagnostics. If they have a touch screen that tells you there is a problem, they should have the same screen tell you what sensor is telling it there is a problem. I have spent a lot of money replacing my on board computer only to find out I still have the same problem. Now Toyota is asking for $500 to replace the acelleration sensor. | 2001 | Mike P. |

TX | 05/30/06 | 1.00 | Battery started going out at 68,000 miles Toyota tried to patch at it to get it through their warranty period of 10,000 and then wanted to charge $9,000 to repair the problem that should have been warranties. Also in the shop more than any car I have ever owned. Sensor problems, Exhaust problems, Electrical problems. etc. When the battery went out a Toyota salesman said "if we took it in for trade we would just sell it a salvage." Not a very green car Junk after 100,000 miles. I purchased a battery for a salvage yard and still have the dead battery in my garage. Not a very green car at all.
