One note - the paint seems a bit more fragile than on the Buick Lesabre this replaced, but no big deal. | 10/21/08 | 5.00 | ONE COMPLAINT - Purchased car with leather seats. Turns out they are vinyl on sides and at bottom. Both areas are falling apart where the leather meets the vinyl. Toyota misrepresented the fact the seats were leather. The area where it is seperating is where vinyl meets the leather. Had a profession look at the problem and it was stated that the vinyl is a much weaker product. Talked to two local dealers who said this problem has appeared in a number of other Camery units as well that were repaired by them. This is no doubt a latent defect in the product. Toyota does not apparently "MAKE IT BETTER" . I have complained to Toyota about the problem and they refused to repair as my $42,000.00 CDN car was over its 60,000 km warrenty. I reported at 71,000 on my normal service call. I indicated that the problem had occurred four or five months before when I had 40,000km on the car. I did not mention it to the dealer as it was not serious at that time as only one stitch was loosened and only a small tuft was only slightly noticeable and I thought little of it and it in fact had slipped my mind to mention it at an earlier service call. Regardless of this fact the seat I purchased was not leather and is litterally falling apart and not from wear in two or three places. I put 6,000.km a month on my car due to my business. I am not happy with the arrangements Toyota tried make with me as they wanted me to pay $1,400. plus labour and hst to repair the seat. Then after complaining for four months called and said they would only require $700.00 plus hst to repair a very obvious LATENT defect. They have lost me as a customer and I have cancelled my 2009 hybred as well as my plans to purchase a new Yaris. I have told at least four of my out of country clients about the problem and two have purchased Honda products as a result of my seat problem. Noisy rear suspension during the cold winter months. I am updating my comments as I have had the car for over a year and I am approaching the 30,000km. The dealership tried to reassemble the dash as it was described as a poor assembly. The noise is still there. I must say that the lag time while accelerating is not as frequent and it has very good pickup when accelerating. Hwy gas mileage is good at 8.5L/100km with an average speed of 130km/hr. It drives and handles extremely well in snowy conditions but I do have good winter tires.
