Dealership has been less than cooperative and has found it necessary to charge me $498 to change the transmission fluid while they still determine if this transmission issue is part of the same issues reported back in 2006. Vehicle has 86k miles and I have owned it for approx. 3 years. The warranty has expired (of course) and it appears as if I have to purchase a new transmission. If your warranty is out buy it at an auto store for around $90.00. Labor should be cheap. My breaks are terrible. The car also hesitates when trying to accelorate on some occasions. I just got the car back after 5 days in the dealer shop as there was a problem with the ac/heating fan not working and making a strange sound when it did. It cost Toyota ~ 2500 to fix all of this (thanks heavens the car is still under warranty). I also had an issue with the tranny hesitating and the software update helped, but did not completly get rid the issue. The entire steering column needed replaced, all the oil leaked out of the car once (they told me there was a service bulletin), and some other more minor problems. There is an issue with a "hesitation" in excelleration and/or shifting that I'm hoping will be fixed by a service bulliten update TSB EG036-07 that I read about online. The car has a major deley in the response for accelaration at all speeds, makes it extremly hard to get out in traffic. Had an issue with the car reving to 4000 rpms while sitting in the driveway with no one sitting in it, which could have been fatal if the timing of that incident would have been different. After only 2000 mi. the a/c started to smell like dirty socks, the dealership said that that was due to condensation building in the vents, and I was advised not to use the recirculation feature on the a/c. Forget the fact that im paying 20,000 dollars for a car that I have to limit how I use my a/c. Now my wheels behind my hubcaps are rusting and I have only 20,000 miles on this car. After 15,000 miles the car still runing ok exept that i have the same complaint as many others when you are driving after 50mph if you step on the gas it wont acelerate for a couple of seconds then takes off like a V6. what i do to prevent thisis that i downshift to 3 gear and then step on the gas but still a little slow to respond. my opinion is that drive by wire system needs an adjustment. but the dealer says the car is ok also a notice a little unstable on highways exept when i carry passengers.
