Then oil light came on briefly 1x & has been downhill from there! Dealer said by time light came on was to late & had to replace engine (sm blk). Also ended up replacing motor mnts, radiator. Got car back & next got ck engine light. Had to replace more hoses (vacuum) & now being told need to replace 2 catalytic converters, vacuum switch, & possibly 2 oxygen sensors. Have spent over $3 K already this summer in repairs & now $2K+ more!! This is acting more like the Ford Taurus I used to own. I expected more from a Camry. Other owners have not had these problems & have gone 300K miles. We are just at 150K. Will have to rethink buying another Camry at this rate. | 2001 | Hilary H. | AMBLER PA | 08/19/08 | 4.00 | I have had trouble starting it in the summer. I just learned that there was a technical service bulletin regarding replacing the computer with an updated version. | 2001 | Johnny G. | LITTLEROCK CA | 08/08/08 | 4.00 | very good handling, smoth, reliable. | 2001 | LaShaundra T. | ELLENWOOD GA | 07/18/08 | 3.00 | had to get oil pan replaced, now the check engine light is on for the park/neutral switch needs to be replaced, and truck lights not working | 2001 | Virginia D. | BELMONT MA | 06/25/08 | 4.00 | The car is mechanically very sound. The AC light flashes and the AC kicks off - other than that - routine maintenance. The paint job on the car has not withstood the test of time. Many chips and fading, discovered that no basecoast primer was ever used. | 2001 | Deborah M. | KANSAS CITY KS | 06/07/07 | 2.00 | Has been a lemon from start. Dealer wouldnt give me car fax, said was one owner, went to another dealer after I felt it was hurricaine car, saw scratches, rust, evidence of water submersion, stench, many issues, head gasket, emissions, oil pan, steering, etc. Dealer pushed car on me, delivered to my home when I said no, then said I was stuck, Tried various times to get out of it. ROger Smith and Sons of KS City KS are not honest. Told me later they would exchange it for a new Corolla and make things rihgt. When I went for appt. sales person not there, no one knew anything. Have contacted attorney Brown who deals in lemons, do have many repeated incidences of the repair trying to rip me off, have things done that were just done and denying me service. Have gotten no where with the dealer, getting ready to report to better business, consumer fraud, local TV and campaign until I get a better car or they just give it to me to get rid of me. I have undergone consdireable stress and time off work trying to resolve issues LIES that this dealer did to me. They say they stand behind you with service after the sale, that is a lie. They are just not right from the finance department which did a double switch on paper work, to the manager and customer service relations who do not return calls or queries to the sales people who will get you in a car at all costs to you and all benefit to them. My suggestion steer clear of these people unless you want a huge headache. Accelerator now sticks, they stole my tires and lost my car for 3 days when I first took it in after they forced me to take it and said I had no legal resolve, which I find out I did and still do, it is just a timely mess. The AC smells like someone vomitted in it. The car jerks and they tell me I need to change timing belt and water pump and oil pump, bought it as a reconditioned car at 58,000 and was told it was just like new only less costly. Now the dealer wants several thousand to cover issues they should have | 2001 | Len S. |
| 04/11/07 | 5.00 | Great mileage -- 40 mpg (Imp gal) hwy at 125 kph, through Rocky mountains even.
Currently at 170,000 km -- tires and timing belt only "repairs".
Typical Camry brake growl on heavy braking but that's my only complaint. | 2001 | Philip N. | SCHENECTADY NY | 10/23/04 | 1.00 | fit and finish are horrendous
computer was replaced with 14000 miles on it
wiper blades didn't park correctly and wiper motor was replaced at 15k
amplifier quit working at 15k
toyota is no better than the other lemons |
