ford has not released replacement parts to other distrubutors and sells by the housing unit, forcing consumer to pay higher prices for repair costs.
stock tires do not hold asphalt.
upshot, nice nostalgic design...fun to drive
| 2005 | C D. | MASHPEE MA | 09/23/09 | 2.00 | I have an 05 with 7K miles (4.0L). Accelerator pedal went dead at 40mph. Very scary. In a second incident the Throttle Control indicator came on and car went into limp home mode. Dealer says throttle body must be replaced. A check of the internet reveals many other Ford owners have experienced the same dangerous problem. | 2005 | Laura J. | MEMPHIS TN | 09/19/09 | 3.00 | well i've had a popping noise when i make turns, right or left. i can't really determine if it's in the front or rear. there was a recall for struts in 2006 and i called the dealer but was informed that the recall doesnt pertain to my car. I think it does. Now the engine light is coming on and the limp home safety light, i can put in park turn it off and re start it and it goes out. Sometimes while driving along at say 45 50 mph. i feel a little hesitation and then the car just dies. took it to two different mechanics both said that its a throttle body problem/tps sensor. What really makes me angry is they said that they have seen 4 to 5 other 2005 v6 auto mustangs with the same issue. I have to go to the dealer for repair but it saunds like to me this should be a dealer recall/bulletin. 4 or 5 is not a flluke its a defect! | 2005 | Dennis J. | AMESBURY MA | 09/12/09 | 4.00 | My gas gage is not reading correctly. Engine light keeps coming on and when I fill the gas tank, it only reads 1/2 full at best. Anyone else having this problem? Sounds expensive... | 2005 | Jason G. | FAIRBORN OH | 07/27/09 | 3.00 | The car has been running really well. The only complaint I have is the Yellow Throttle Control (wrench) indication came on signalling a problem. The Service Engine Soon indicator light also illuminated. The OBD II computer stated a hard fault in the throttle actuator control. | 2005 | Garry P. | SAINT PAUL MN | 06/04/09 | 4.00 | Problem with exterior noise. Had gas tank flow problems resolved with new gas tank. Brakes had to be replaced early on because of a squeal. | 2005 | Mark W. |
| 05/22/09 | 3.00 | when the car door is opened, the window drops down, when the door is closed the window does not close back up like it is supposed to do. Anyone have issues or had issues with this? | 2005 | Debbie K. | SAN BERNARDINO CA | 05/08/09 | 4.00 | I sometimes have a hard time puting gas in it, I go to fill the tank and the gas pump constantly clicks off like its full but its not even close. | 2005 | Russell L. |
| 05/07/09 | 2.00 | I have an 05 v-6 now w/71,000 miles, early on the dash board rattled and the rear side markers and license plate lights were not even pluged in from the factory! Drivers seat back squeeks, fuel gauge drops to empty even when full. Automatic trans shudders and slips going from 2nd to 3rd and reverse gear hesitates and clunks when it finally engages. Have replaced battery and had to recharge that one cause it kills it if you don't drive it for a week or so. The dealer said wait till the trans gets worse then they'll look at it. It is worse now and to fix the the gas gauge and seat and trans is $6,000 and in 4,000 miles my warranty will expire. Plus they said my waterpump and oil pan are leaking, It has never leaked at all on my driveway, guess it's a true story that they made up. | 2005 | Jimmie L. | VACAVILLE CA | 04/27/09 | 4.00 | instrument cluster problems, front suspension noise | 2005 | Sharon H. | GLENCOE NM | 04/27/09 | 2.00 | I have a blown engine at 30,184 miles and 5 months over the 3 year warranty. | 2005 | Brittany J. | FRISCO TX | 04/23/09 | 1.00 | I bought a 2005 Ford Mustang from Bankston Ford and i can't fill it up with gas. It just clicks off like its full every time i try, and Bankston won't fix it or take the car back. So now i have a car that is worthless...great. DON"T BUY ANYTHING FROM BANKSTON FORD. THEY SCREWED ME OVER TWICE. | 2005 | M W. | CHARLESTON WV | 04/06/09 | 0.00 | Fuel sending unit needs replaced 700.00 cost. 50,000 miles | 2005 | Thomas G. | YORKTOWN VA | 03/15/09 | 4.00 | The performance and appearance outweigh the problems . | 2005 | Gene H. | CARY IL | 03/09/09 | 4.00 | Vehicle runs rough or quits in wet conditions | 2005 | Phillip P. |
| 02/24/09 | 5.00 | Fuel error light comes on and check engine | 2005 | Christopher L. | RANDOLPH UT | 02/21/09 | 4.00 | My gas gage just drops to empty when you are driving down the road, it doesnt matter if you just filled it or if it has a half of a tank. The gas gage has randomly stopped working, but when it is warm it starts working again. | 2005 | Nelson M. | SAN DIEGO CA | 02/17/09 | 2.00 | water leaks inside passanger side carpet | 2005 | Tedi L. | VALLEY SPRINGS CA | 02/11/09 | 1.00 | I think I am having problems typical of the 2005 Mustang. Some issues include: suspension, gas tank, transmission, clunking noises, etc. The issues that have inconvenienced so many Mustang owners are excessive and Ford is horrible at dealing with their defective product. I have been a faithful Ford customer for 10 years - I will never buy another Ford product again. Hey Ford - try standing by your product for once. | 2005 | Ernie A. | POMONA CA | 02/05/09 | 3.00 | Gas filler kept shutting nozzle off - Ford fixed it free and it never came back. Gas needle is gone out hangs & misindicates most of the time. Check Engine lights up for apperantly no reason.
Now goes on for mass air sensor malfunction and possible throttle body problem. Ford wants way too much for repairs and charged a 110 bucks just hook it up for something to benefit themselves anyway what ever happened to free estimates? | 2005 | Pamela T. | ORANGE COVE CA | 02/04/09 | 1.00 | very poor transmission worked on x4,first year, tripmeter resets itself, waterpump failed, creating multiple other failures, cluster gone, radiator needed replacement, etc, etc..... the brakes are good | 2005 | William K. | LAWRENCE KS | 02/04/09 | 2.00 | I HAVE HAD MY EMERGENCY BRAKE LOCK ON ME ONCE SINCE OWNING MY 2005 GT. IT WAS DURING THE WINTER AND AS WITH MANY OTHER POST HERE THE CABLE FROZE AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THIS HAPPENED IN THE WINTER OF 2008. SINCE THEN I HAVE MADE AN EFFORT NOT TO YANK ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN I APPLY IT I PULL IT UP SLOWLY AND DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PULL IT ALL THE WAY UP. SINCE I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS I HAVE HAD NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH MY E BRAKE ALTHOUGH ITS STILL A PROBLEM I THINK FORD SHOULD ADDRESS. HOPE THIS HELPS OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS OUT THERE. JUST PULL THE HANDLE REAL EASY. | 2005 | Alethea W. | MIAMI FL | 01/22/09 | 3.00 | overall minor problems, but don't be surprised, just remember to listen to your car. | 2005 | Mark H. | PHENIX CITY AL | 01/21/09 | 2.00 | transmission problems, rebuilt at 60,000 miles, bad vibration in car can,t find problem. | 2005 | Diane L. | REISTERSTOWN MD | 01/19/09 | 3.00 | hessatates | 2005 | Ryan B. | LAS VEGAS NV | 01/06/09 | 1.00 | cracked intake manifold at 80k miles | 2005 | Susan T. | VAN NUYS CA | 01/02/09 | 0.00 | Can't get any frekin' fuel in the tank!!! | 2005 | Michael A. | CARSON CA | 12/11/08 | 4.00 | Having a problem with 500-1000 rpm low speed throttle control. Hesitates, fails to respond to small foot pedal inputs, then with foot off of pedal, revs up to 1000 rpm and veihcle jumps ahead. VERY NOT GOOD | 2005 | Rose P. | MECHANICSVILLE VA | 11/19/08 | 4.00 | Parking brake sticks in cold or damp weather, knocking noise from engine on occasion, @48000 miles started revving up when I stop. Ford can't find these problems when I try to get it fixed!!! Love the car drives/handles like nothing else! Hate the company I've gotten the run around with every problem at three different dealerships!!! | 2005 | Garnet H. |
| 11/18/08 | 4.00 | I hear alot about leaks and electrical issues. My car hasn't leaked but it has a major condesation problem. To the piont that my stereo started acting up, when I removed the CD it was covered in water. Two days later the stereo started working again. Also the sending unit to my instrument cluster is acting up and showing that the car is over heating and at times I have no speedometer. It only does this on cooler days, seems kind of odd and it's only $800.00 to fix it. | 2005 | Kathy F. | TAMPA FL | 11/15/08 | 1.00 | This car has an intermittant problem where it accelerates uncontrollably, overriding braking; it has done this both in drive and reverse; a diagnostic test done at a Ford service center does not identify any problem; the last time it occurred, the car drove into a building. | 2005 | Synnova I. | NORTH LITTLE ROCK AR | 10/09/08 | 3.00 | very bumpy | 2005 | Stallings P. | MATTHEWS NC | 09/21/08 | 1.00 | Car continues to have sensor problems and has processor failure. Processor was replaced and 40 miles later I lost all power to the guages, lights, and accessories. Car then started misfiring and cut off. Can not even roll the windows up now. | 2005 | Holly E. | LEXINGTON KY | 08/27/08 | 4.00 | I love the car but it is horrible in the rain. It oversteers every chance it gets even in a very light mist. | 2005 | Kevin W. | LAS VEGAS NV | 08/22/08 | 4.00 | temp gauge fail afer 40k miles | 2005 | Bob R. | PONTE VEDRA BEACH FL | 07/14/08 | 2.00 | The whole instrument cluster had to be replaced $700 at 41,000 miles. | 2005 | Tammy H. | PORTAGE WI | 06/12/08 | 1.00 | The battery goes dead I have had 3 new Batteries so far and only 5000 miles on a 2005 mustang every time I go to drive it the battery is dead Ford dealers in the area can't figure out what is wrong with it. I was told to disconnect the battery when I stop. how realistic is that | 2005 | Gary B. | MILTON FL | 05/31/08 | 1.00 | Vehicle required new engine block at 56,000 due to a faulty valve seating dropping into the piston. | 2005 | Valerie S. | VALDOSTA GA | 05/23/08 | 3.00 | Leather driver seat shows wear where you rub against while entering and exiting car. Leather shouldn't do this. Dealer says it's normal wear and tear and not covered by warranty. | 2005 | Matthew K. | MAURERTOWN VA | 05/21/08 | 1.00 | v6 5 spd transmission is pure junk, ford customer satisfaction poor | 2005 | Charles S. | AUSTIN TX | 05/19/08 | 3.00 | Clutch wore out after 2 years. Stereo sucks. | 2005 | Manuel C. | SAN JUAN PR | 05/07/08 | 4.00 | No complaints yet | 2005 | LIGA L. | BATON ROUGE LA | 05/07/08 | 5.00 | NONE | 2005 | Toni M. | AUSTIN TX | 05/01/08 | 3.00 | suspension | 2005 | J M. | INDEPENDENCE OH | 04/30/08 | 4.00 | 1 | 2005 | Walter G. | APO AE | 04/29/08 | 3.00 | The car has started surging and the check engine light has come on. It goes off for a while then comes on again. The car seems to be using a lot of gas. It has 43,000 miles. The Ford dealer says that it is the anti-knock sensor. I have an extended warranty but the Ford warranty representative says that this is not covered. It is under the emissions control system and even though it's a California approved car, they will not honor the California car emissions warranty of 3 years, 50,000 miles because I am military and stationed outside of California overseas (Germany). | 2005 | Dawn C. | LANCASTER PA | 04/14/08 | 2.00 | Have numerous issues with this vehicel-Paking brake dragging, Instrument panel computer errors, awful fit & finish, car revs up when coming to a stop, this is a manual transmission. | 2005 | Lew B. | READING PA | 12/08/07 | 3.00 | Emergency Brake system froze on me last two winters, same with my cousin's Mustang and others. | 07/26/06 | 2.00 | I have had a pile of War. issues and would not buy this car again. Thought about picking up a Cobra, but I don't want to run into the same issues; especially with more 'bells and whistles' to worry about. | 2005 | Terry H. | TACOMA WA | 05/19/06 | 5.00 | Minor issues fixed by the dealer.
Excellent car for the money | 2005 | Andrew K. | Calgary AZ | 04/03/06 | 4.00 | A lot of fun. Lovely on the highway. Handles well. | 2005 | Cindi B. | CHICO CA | 11/30/05 | 4.00 | I love everything except the clunking in the struts and the premature shut-off when refueling | 2005 | J. A. P. | CARROLLTON TX | 10/11/05 | 1.00 | After owning this vehicle for only 9 months, I traded it in on a 2006 Acura. Ford was not willing to work with me on my lemon purchase. Even after going through the arbitration process, Ford only offered me an extended warranty with a $50 deductible. With all the problems this vehicle had there was no way I would accept an extended warranty w/a deductible, so I felt like I had no choice but to trade it. I hope this is posted for other viewers to see. Thanks! | 2005 | Mrs M. | TUJUNGA CA | 09/09/05 | 3.00 | car runs very well, except thier seems to be gas tank issues and struts problem | 2005 | Mary C. | LAKEWOOD CA | 05/31/05 | 1.00 | Purchased this car in January 2005 and have had it in the shop 4 times for various problems since then. | 2005 | Mark V. | SYRACUSE NY | 05/30/05 | 5.00 | I purchased this car new in April of 05.
After modifying the suspension for road racing, I have driven this car 22,000 miles with NO problems. I would put the build quality with any Corvette that I have owned. great car! |
