1998 | Darla G. | BLACKWOOD NJ | 08/25/09 | n/a | I recently purchased a 1999 Ford Mustang with a 1998 used engie installed into it. I only had 1 real problem with it and it was my exhaust. I had that fixed and ran great for the next day. Less then 36 hrs after the exhaust was fixed and after sitting for about 15 hrs or so, a neighbor came pounding on our door telling us our car was on FIRE!!!! Healso stated that he heard what sounded like someone was trying to start it from a distance. Well we dont have a remote starter for this car, it only unlocks the car and trunk, does not start it. Well i have pictures of my car just melting away, the entire front of it. I loved this car, i always wanted one and was almost finished paying for it. I still owe $1395 on it and i only had it for about 7 months. Fire marshall is still investigating it. I believe he said it possibly started on the passenger side where there was a box above the tire area with wires in it. What were these wires, what were they for as i couldnt see anything matching that description on a 1998 engine image...??? | 1998 | DOUG R. | HAMPSTEAD MD | 05/25/09 | 4.00 | Plastic intake manifold leaking/cracked | 1998 | Eladia C. also can't shift car out of gear! | 1998 | RG P. | VIRGINIA BEACH VA | 07/18/08 | 1.00 | Fuel leaking from connection from pipe into gastank. Kept smelling gas, especially when topped off tank. Would only get 16-18 mpg on first 1/4 tank, then fumes would not be smelt. After consulting with my mechanic ( He said it should be recalled.) Mechanic said plastic piece connecting pipe to tank had large crack. When he called local Ford dealership. They informed him they had seen about a dozen with the same problem. The car only had about 30,000 mis. at the time. Piece was only about $20 but a $500. job to install piece. Tank had to be moved. Just reporting now that my car with 43,000 mi. has a major transmission problem. Ford says they are unaware, but the mechanic says Ford has a bulletin because it is such a common problem. No more Fords for this family. |
