2000 | Charles H. | REHOBOTH MA | 09/12/09 | 3.00 | After market parts are hard to find and are usually dealer or junk yard only which equals $$$ | 2000 | David B. | FLORENCE OR | 06/07/09 | 4.00 | I'm concerned about being told not to use fuel with methanol in it. At least where I live, I have no choice but to use it with a ten percent amount. How important is it to use premium? Is there some kind of supplement that would offset the methanol? I just got the car with 73,000 miles from a friend who only had it for a short time. It's replacing an '88 El Dorado with 218,000 miles and still running. I'm really impressed with the Catera in every other way. It is in beautiful condition and runs like a dream so far. Thanks for whatever info you can forward! | 2000 | Michael S. | COHOES NY | 11/14/08 | 4.00 | Took ownership after lease been very good car for over 6 years. Too bad it just isn't reliable. When it runs good, its the Cadillac I dreamed of. Unfortunantely, it only runs good 45% of the time. | 2000 | Paul E. | SAN ANGELO TX | 06/08/08 | 1.00 | Problems Problems Problems = $$$$$$$$$ | 2000 | David H. | ENCINITAS CA | 06/16/06 | 1.00 | The crankshaft position sensor fails without warning and if in heavy traffic bumper to bumper it will cause the engine to shut down. Replace the sensor. The door check assembly is extremely poor in design. The inner door panel requires a reinforcement plate. GM has a procedure for this replacement. The inner door needs to be 1/4 inch plate not 10-gauge. Too much torque required to open and close door. Metal fatigue sets in and the door check literally destroys the mounting plate. The window lifts for the rear door have a tension cable on a spool. The design is very poor and at the point of connection for the cable, this pulls apart. A stupid design. |
